Opening day is just around the corner! We'll be opening on December 28th, and our hours will be 3-8 PM on Monday through Thursday and noon until 8 PM on Friday through Sunday. Now that we're more used to the ebb and flow of winter business, we're going to make an effort to do more fun special stuff, whether it be food or drink specials or special events like the beer dinners we used to do back in the day. We also have a few new food and drink options on the menu, so come on up!
The locals might be hearty, but some of the thinner blooded ones are migrating south as the temperatures get cooler. We'll miss you guys! Also, just a reminder that we'll be closing on October 27th and reopening for the winter season on December 28th, so come out and get some barbecue before the fire goes out for a bit.
Hey ya'll, we could use some support if you have a moment! https://www.mlive.com/michigansbest/2018/09/make_your_pick_for_the_upper_p_1.html#incart_river_index
We're going to be following the same schedule as we did last year, so we'll be closing at the tail end of October and reopening on December 28th for the winter season. Our website's been updated with hotel rates starting at $70 per night for the winter, so book now at http://www.fitzgeralds-mi.com/ and come have a blast this winter. Rates may change, so don't wait too long!
These new camp mugs are pretty rad.
Linda Sorsen passed away on July 21st with her family at her side. Condolences weren't her style, so please comment with a fond memory instead. She was a mom to a lot more people than just me, and she'll be missed. I know this is a family friendly page, but fuck cancer.
We had some light sprinkles blow through, but it's stopped now and looks like it's clearing up. We're going to stick to our normal schedule, so come on up!
Things to know about the 3rd and 4th: 1. Eagle River is our home, so as our guests, please be respectful of the town and it's residents. Please don't litter, and don't congregate on any property that isn't ours or the beach. We aim for everyone to have a good time, so let's all treat each other well! 2. We're aiming to be open at 3:00 on July 3rd and noon on July 4th. Hopefully we'll be ready a little earlier on the 3rd, but we have a lot of stuff to set up! 3. We'll have limited credit card processing abilities, so bring cash to help us keep things running smoothly. 4. NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL. It's illegal, so please don't do it. You're also going to be ID'd and wristbanded when you arrive. No wristband, no beer, and we reserve the right to ID you again. The party is for all ages, so don't feel like you can't bring the kids to play on the beach! 5. We're doing a token system for food and drinks again this year. Each token will cost $5 (there are some price breaks for buying a bunch), and there will be a station dedicated to purchasing tokens and merchandise in order to streamline the process. 6. The food station will be serving brisket and pork sandwiches with one side for two tokens, two ribs for one token, two sides for one token, or a hotdog and side for one token. We'll also have some black eyed peas available for vegetarians. 7. Houghton township doesn't want to allow camping on the beach because *reasons*, so see any of our staff for camping options.
Our cooler is stuffed to the gills in preparation for our annual July 3rd and 4th party. The tap list is as follows: 1. Local's Light - Light lager 2. Bavarian Benchmark - Helles lager 3. Great Lakes Heritage - Pale ale 4. Power of Love - Shandy 5. Soft Parade - Fruit rye ale 6. Bellaire Brown - Brown ale 7. Castles of Yesterday - Maibock 8. Lemon-Hop Stand - India cream ale 9. Dan's Pink Skirt - IPA 10. Huma Lupa Licious - IPA 11. Freedom of '78 - IPA 12. Treefer Madness - Double IPA, brah 13. Most Excellent Stellar - Double IPA 14. Anniversary Ale - Wheat wine 15. Vieux Rouge - Bourbon barrel aged sour red 16. Passion's Our Business - Wine barrel aged sour golden 17. Bourbon Sustenance - barrel aged schwarzbier 18. Bourbon Evil Urges - barrel aged Belgian strong ale 19. Bourbon Hammer Jack - barrel aged Scotch ale 20. Pulsar - Semi dry cider Pretty epic! We'll post some more details about the party soon, but in the meantime, feel free to check out the post on our website under, "Fitz Happenings".
The sun's out and it feels like summer; what are you waiting for?
For those of you who don't live in the area, Houghton, Hancock and Lake Linden suffered some pretty severe flash flooding very early this morning. We're all good up north, so if you or anyone you know has been displaced by the weather, we have a room or two open for the next few days that you can stay in for free.
Today is the room auction supporting Dogo, the K-9 officer in Keweenaw county! The winning bid will get two nights in our first floor corner room on July 3rd and 4th, as well as $50 in food tokens for the party and an assortment of merchandise from Short's Brewing. The winner will also have the option of getting a private meeting with Dogo, which is a super cool experience. To bid, just head to our Instagram, @the_fitz_official, and find this photo. At 12:00am on June 16th, bidding will close and we'll reach out to the winner. If we're not able to reach you within 48 hours, we'll go to the next highest bidder. Also, the winning bid amount will be generously matched by Edward Cole, giving us the opportunity to really raise some money. The sheriff's department in our tiny community has to make the most out of every penny in their budget, so let's work together to support this incredibly valuable search and rescue asset!
We're currently experiencing trouble with our landline (again), so we're having calls forwarded to a 30 dollar burner phone like we're slangin' products of ill repute. It'll hopefully be resolved soon, but in the meantime, please leave a message and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
These two stopped by today to let us know that next week's winning bidder for two nights in room 101 on July 3rd and 4th will have the option of a personal meet and greet with Dogo. Pretty awesome!
This year's 4th of July party is taking shape, and we know that everyone always wants a hotel room to stay in. We happened to have a cancellation for July 3rd and 4th in our first floor corner room, which is a pretty choice room for the party. Rather than sell it to just anyone, we're going to auction it off on June 15th on our Instagram account. All of the money will go to our friend Officer Dogo, the K-9 officer at Keweenaw County Sheriff's Office. Dogo's not cheap, but he's a vital search and rescue tool for our area, so we'd like to support him any way that we can. The auction will be held on our Instagram account, @the_fitz_official, so give us a follow and keep your eyes peeled. The winning bidder will get the two nights in room 101 along with $50 in food tokens and some goodies from our buddies at Short's Brewing Company. Bid it up, because he's a Good Boy.
Gas would be easier, but easier doesn't taste better. Luckily there are some great wood burning appliances out there to help us make some great 'cue! Desire for a wood fired grill....intensifies.
Jum got the first pour, but there's enough for the rest of ya'll tonight. Come get some Psychedelic Cat Grass from Short's Brewing Company while you can! This beer was packaged and delivered all the way to us in the Keweenaw in 24 hours, so we're kind of obligated to slay this barrel in record time.
Steelhead trout is on the menu tonight!
